Booking and Availability

  • You can check availability and book directly through this website using the 'Book' page. We're also listed on booking platforms such as Airbnb and Booking.com.

  • Check-in is after 4pm and check-out is by 10am. Please let us know your expected arrival time in advance.

  • Cancellation and prepayment policies vary according to where you make your booking. For direct bookings through this website there is a £25 administration fee, but all other sums paid by a guest are refunded for cancellations made 14 days or more before the arrival date. No refunds are given for cancellations made less than 14 days before the arrival date. Please check the specific terms when making your reservation.

  • Please check our booking calendar for minimum stay requirements, which may vary by season.

The Property

  • The Old Workshop sleeps up to 4 guests across two bedrooms.

  • We have two bedrooms, each with an ensuite shower room: Ground floor bedroom with a double bed, Loft bedroom which can be configured as either twin singles or a super king (large double) bed. Just let us know which you would prefer.

  • Yes, The Old Workshop features a ground floor double bedroom with step-free access and an ensuite shower room, specifically designed to be accessible for guests with limited mobility. For full details, please see our accessibility page.

  • No, there are no stairgates or doors at the top and bottom of the stairs, and no plug protectors fitted. The cottage may not be suitable for mobile toddlers and smaller children. Please contact us if you have any queries about suitability for young children.

  • No, we regret that we are unable to welcome pets as part of our commitment to providing an exceptional experience for all our guests.

  • We live next door with Inka, a very friendly black hovawart dog.

  • No, to preserve the safety and comfort of our home for all guests, we kindly request that no smoking, vaping, e-cigarettes, candles, or open flames are used anywhere on the property.

  • The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen with all the appliances and equipment you'll need for self-catering.

  • Yes, we provide ultrafast fiber broadband WiFi with speeds of approximately 500 Mbps, making it perfect for remote working, Zoom calls, and 4K streaming.

  • The living area features a corner sofa and HDTV with access to BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Netflix, Spotify, and BBC Sounds. We also provide books, maps, and games for your enjoyment.

  • Yes, bed linen and towels are provided for all guests.

  • We have a travel cot and fitted sheet available on request.

  • Yes, a welcome pack with local apple juice and biscuits, and a breakfast starter pack with bread/crumpets, butter and jam/marmalade are provided.

  • The cottage is equipped with fire and carbon monoxide alarms, as well as fire extinguishers and a fire blanket.

  • Yes, the cottage features an air source heat pump and underfloor heating for efficient heating and an EV charger for electric vehicles.

Parking & EV Charging

  • Yes, we offer free private parking for up to two cars. We also have a dedicated EV charging point available for guest use. It is untethered so please bring your own Type 2 cable. Charging fees are not included in the rental fee and are charged separately at 40 p/kWh. They can be paid in cash or by bank transfer when you know how much charge you have used during your stay.

  • Free private parking is available for 2 cars. Parking for another car is available but please discuss it with us first.

  • EV charging costs 40p per kWh, payable separately from your accommodation booking.

Getting Here

  • The Old Workshop is just minutes by car from Bath city centre, approximately 2.6-2.7 miles (4.2-4.4 km) from Bath Abbey and The Roman Baths. Taxis/Ubers are easily available.

  • Yes, we are ideally located for visitors to Monkton Combe School and the University of Bath. The Old Workshop is just a 5-minute walk (0.3 miles) from Monkton Combe School and approximately 1.5 miles from the University of Bath.

  • Bristol Airport is approximately 21 miles (34 km) from the property.

  • Bath Spa Train Station is approximately 2.7 miles (4.4 km) away.

  • The village of Monkton Combe is a peaceful countryside location, so a car is recommended for ease of travel, though local taxis/Ubers are easily available.

    Local buses are also available, with the bus stop about 20 mins walk away from the cottage.

  • We live next door to The Old Workshop and will try to meet you on arrival to welcome you and show you around. Please let us know your expected arrival time in advance.

    There is a lockbox for self check-in if you would prefer to use it or you are expecting to arrive late at night, and we will send you the code.

  • Bath offers world-famous attractions including the Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, the Assembly Rooms, Thermae Bath Spa, Theatre Royal, and various museums including the Jane Austen museum. There's the iconic Georgian architecture of the Royal Crescent and the Circus, excellent shopping with independent shops and high street brands, plus Bath Rugby at "The Rec" by the River Avon.

  • Absolutely. There are stunning walks from the front door through the Midford Valley directly from the front door, including the Kennet & Avon Canal towpath, the Bath Skyline walk and the Two Tunnels Greenway.

  • The pretty village of Monkton Combe is only 5-10 mins walk down the hill from the cottage and has a welcoming pub and canal-side café.

    There is s Sainsburys supermarket selling a wide range of food and drink 2.2 miles (3.5 km) away and Bath city centre offers a wide and diverse range of restaurants catering to every taste and style, plus many other local countryside pubs serving outstanding quality food.

  • Within easy reach are Stonehenge, Longleat, Cheddar Gorge, National Trust properties, the National Arboretum at Westonbirt, pretty Cotswold villages, and many famous film locations.
