Travelling locally
From Monkton Combe to/from Bath…
By Car/Taxi
Approximately 6 minutes drive from The Old Workshop to the centre of Bath. Alternatively, if you plan to stay for the day in the centre of Bath you could leave you car at the Odd Down Park and Ride.
Taxis are easy to catch in Bath, Veezu or Uber charge about £10 - £14 from Bath Spa station to The Old Workshop.
Walking
Walking to Bath city centre takes about 45 mins, either by road or through the fields next to Prior Park Landscape Gardens (National Trust). It’s over a hill so there are some lovely views looking down on the City of Bath.
By Bike
Cycling to Bath takes about 15 mins. It’s up Shaft Rd, along North Rd then down Ralph Allen Drive. Shaft Rd is quite steep in places (14%) so strong legs or an electric bike are recommended.
From The Old Workshop to/from Monkton Combe School…
The walk to Monkton Senior School takes about 5 minutes. Take the path downhill opposite the entrance to the drive of The Old Workshop, then its’ 100 metres on a quiet road. Walking uphill to Monkton Prep takes between 5 and 10 minutes. From The Old Workshop turn right up Shaft Rd for 200 metres, then take the path on the left also going uphill.
From The Old Workshop to/from Bath University…
Driving to Bath University takes about 5 minutes along Claverton Down Rd. Alternatively there is a lovely 40 minute walk or 10 minute cycle up Shaft Rd then on a path through Rainbow Woods and across fields.
